altLAB’s 2023 Professional Learning Suite is now open for staff to register. Our team have designed new sessions to better support staff on their educational practice.

Some of our new professional learning sessions include:

Canvas Studio

Canvas Studio is a communication tool that allows lecturers and students to actively collaborate through video and audio media. Learn how to use Canvas Studio to create a seamless learning experience.

‍Accessibility

This session will discuss what accessibility means to us at AUT, and cover some of the ways we can incorporate accessibility into courses through a mix of learning design and technology.

Designing a session plan
This session will provide you with important information on designing a one-hour teaching session. This includes:
* structure of a session
* template to help you brainstorm your session plan
* technology that can be used in a session
You will also have opportunities to start to work on a session plan and discuss with fellow participants about planning a session.

Activity-based course design

In this workshop, we will use the ABC Learning Design framework from University College London (UCL) to review and visualise the learning activities embedded in your current course design. Using the framework, we support you to redesign the high-level learning activities in your course to increase productive student activities towards the course learning outcomes.
