AUT Essentials+ (Modules 3 & 4)

AUT Essentials+ is designed to help staff meet the challenges of teaching for the first time whilst enhancing their educational practice. The programme contextualises teaching and learning at AUT and explores the ways in which our values and priorities inform curriculum design.

Key Areas Covered

Module 3 Assessing Learning provides participants with the opportunity to discuss good principles and practice in assessment design, with a focus on designing authentic assessment. This session will review the purposes of assessment and the role it can play in helping students gauge their learning progress.

Module 4 Designing Feedback explores the crucial role that feedback plays in learning and in empowering students. It will look at how new approaches to feedback design, including peer to peer, can help students to implement feedback and be active participants in the feedback process.

Target Audience

This is a required programme designed for academic staff who are new to teaching. ‘New to teaching’ is defined as having undertaken less than one year of full-time teaching at a tertiary institution. If you have more than one year’s teaching experience, there is no attendance requirement, however, you are welcome to register to attend.
